Larsan Bellac, a high class con artist, hires two sleazy gangsters to help him with his next operation. Thanks to his brains and skill, the threesome rip off a wealthy public works contractor. But a rich widow falls in love with the smart con man, takes him to her castle and steals the loot. Bellac is so disgusted that he takes French leave just before the berserk contractor shows up and wreaks a grisly revenge.

In the sixteenth century, a cruel lord called François Cenci lives in a castle with his wife Lucrèce, his daughter Beatrice, and Giacomo, his son by an earlier marriage. Lucrèce and Giacomo have become lovers, they successfully carry out a plot to murder her husband. They let Beatrice and Olympio (whom she loves and is bailiff of the castle) be accused of the crime. Olympio unearths the evidence proving their innocence, but too late. Giacomo and his mistress are, however, punished for their crime.
