Goubi, an artless fellow, lives in a village in the Allier and dreams of seeing Paris. A mean joke lands him in a truck which dumps him in the capital in the middle of the night. Lost in the city streets, he innocently takes up with a prostitute called La Fleur and gets hauled off to the Latin Quarter by a student. Arrested for desorder, Goubi meets La Fleur at the police station and a great love is born. Based on René Fallet's novel.

Seven year old Rémi has a happy childhood with a woman he thinks is his mother. Driven by poverty, the woman's husband gets rid of Rémi by hiring him out to Vitalis, an aging travelling entertainer and animal-trainer. At first, all Rémi can think of is to go back to his 'mother'. But he finds out that he is actually an orphan and becomes attached to the old man. His path is fraught with tragedy and adventure, but Rémi will find his real family, at last.

Until now business has been good for big boss "Light-haired Louis" and his henchmen, Fredo, Pepito and Raymond. But the attack of an armored bank goes wrong: Raymond is shot and Louis arrested. The latter suspects Fredo of having turned him in. Pepito is sure that the stool pigeon is Louis' younger brother, who is prohibited from entering French territory and who is ready to do anything to be able to see his girlfriend. Suspicion gives way to bloody revenge.

Jacques Arnaud, a young examining magistrate is assigned to a small country town. As he studies his predecessor's files, he is prompted to request further investigation into an old case concerning the sudden death of François Le Guen, a man who compiled an incriminating file on Broussard, a powerful local industry baron. Unearthing the old case causes turmoil in the small town where the list of suspects is long. Jacques is soon overwhelmed by 'The Case'.
