Georges Marceau, a truck driver, has an accident and his assistant is killed. Even though he is now impotent, Georges marries his true love, Olivia. Together they open a diner for truckers. But Georges is madly jealous and suspects his wife is untrue. Even though she is a faithful wife, Olivia is exasperated by his attitude and goes to stay at the home of Pietri, a gas pump attendant. Georges shoots Pietri, wounds him and then commits suicide.

Raymond, a locomotive engineer, has an accident that burns his eyes. A doctor tells him he might recover his sight. Raymond becomes a boarder at a home for the blind where he meets Louise, the blind Braille teacher. She is engaged to the bursar who in a jealous rage tells Raymond that he is incurable. Devastated, Raymond tries to commit suicide but is saved. He goes back to the home where Louise rekindles his hope and reason for living.

Roberto's last meeting with Maréchal stirs the young man to be true to his calling. He finds the courage to bend the orchestra to his will and to play beautiful music.

The policeman discovers the criminal, one of the murdered men who simulated his own death to carry out his murderous scheme without fear of reprisal.
