A well-known doctor lives with his brother who leaves with Marie, a young singer he loves madly. After a while, the young woman deserts the brother to go back on stage, and he commits suicide. Marie then meets the doctor and becomes his mistress. During the doctor's attempts to find out why his brother killed himself, he learns that Marie, the woman he loves, is to blame. The truth destroys the couple.
