Clermont-Ferrand and the Auvergne region from 1940 to 1945; a film recounting war, defeat, German Occupation, a triumphant Resistance movement, and the end of the war. Eye-witness accounts by men and women who experienced the events are interwoven with French, English and German newsreels. In a deliberately jumbled chronology, the filmmaker has breathed life into the great events of the time and into the daily atmosphere of this tragic period in European history.
