The young producer Vita Catene starts a movie named Zanzibar. He hires Maréchal, a director who has been once successful and Camille Dor, a young and famous actress. The name of Camille is a guarantee for the financing of the film but Maréchal doesn't like her and he treats her badly. Catene, in love with Camille, protects her but he discovers that Camille is a drug addict. The actress and director Christine Pascal portrays, in a sensitive and yet harsh way, the movie business.
