Elevator to the Gallows returns to the big screen

,

As you know, Gaumont is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year.
Gaumont has produced and acquired many films over the years to develop one of the richest and most extensive catalogs in Europe.
We regularly restore our films and have chosen to re-release some of them to theaters, in order to allow the audience to discover little-known films, or rediscover the great cinematic classics.
Following its showing in the “Cannes Classic” selection, Elevator to the Gallows, directed by Louis Malle will be our first theatrical re-release on June 24.

Released on January 29, 1958, it was the directorial debut for Louis Malle, 25 years old at the time.
Starring Jeanne Moreau, Maurice Ronet, Georges Poujouly, Lino Ventura and Jean-Claude Brialy, it tells the story of a man who murders his boss with the help of his boss’s wife, who happens to be his lover.
Wanting to remove damning evidence, he gets stuck in the elevator that would take him to the scene of the crime.

The music in Elevator to the Gallows, composed by Miles Davis, was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque 1958 by the Académie Charles Cros.

The film is being released in theaters on June 24, 2015. Don’t miss out on seeing this masterpiece!
