Mrs. Dumont has just moved to the rue de Picpus where she finds a corpse in the closet. The only murder witness is blind. The witness, Mrs. Dumont, and the corrupt manager of a security firm are all murdered. Detective Maigret, who has been spending a restful vacation in the country, is summoned back to investigate.
